​​Key Responsibilities

 

1. Startup Sourcing & Onboarding

  • Continuously scout, identify, and qualify African startups for various AfricArena programs and investor deal rooms
     

  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of startups, segmented by sector, stage, country, and investment readiness
     

  • Evaluate startups based on traction, product-market fit, team, and scalability
     

  • Onboard selected startups and support their participation in bootcamps, summits, and investor meetings
     

  • Keep detailed startup records and update the CRM with key metrics

2. Data & Tool Management

  • Maintain and organize databases (e.g. Excel, Google sheets) to track startups and research assets
     

  • Contribute to dashboards and visualizations to share insights with partners and internal teams
     

  • Work with the marketing and product teams to surface the best content and startup stories from research

​

3. Program Promotion & Sales Support

​

  • Actively promote AfricArise and AfricArena programs, events, and partnership opportunities to relevant startups and ecosystem stakeholders.

  • Support startup-focused lead generation and conversion activities, including outreach, follow-ups, and onboarding.

  • Communicate the value proposition of our programs to attract high-quality startups applications and drive startup ad ecosystem players’s stakeholder engagement

  • Collaborate with the marketing and partnerships team to improve program visibility and optimize outreach funnels for startups.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Economics, Development, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Business, or related field
     

  • 1–3 years of experience in startup ecosystems, research, venture capital, accelerators, or innovation hubs
     

  • Demonstrated understanding of the African tech ecosystem and its key players

  • Comfortable presenting program benefits and value to diverse stakeholders (founders, investors, partners)

​

  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to grow program participation and partner engagement

Skills and compentencies required

  • Strong sourcing, scouting, and due diligence capabilities

  • Sales-oriented mindset with a track record (or potential) of converting leads into participants, clients, or users
     

  • Excellent research and analytical writing skills
     

  • Comfortable with data management and visualization (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)

  • Comfortable with Canva and WIX CRM a plus.
     

  • Curious and proactive mindset—able to dig for insights and connect the dots
     

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once

​

  • Fluency in English is required; French is a plus
