AfricArena is an African tech accelerator that runs Corporate Open Innovation challenges throughout the African continent.

 

Going into its seventh year, AfricArena has the privilege of operating in three key spheres that underpin Africa’s economic landscape. These being: tech startups, corporations, and investors (i.e. angel investors, VCs, CVCs and other institutional investors). 

 

Through open innovation challenges, in partnership with corporations, we aim to bring together these 3 spheres, to foster co-investment and collaboration that can move the economies and people of the continent forward

What you'll do

INVESTOR RELATIONS ASSOCIATE

​​Responsibilities

​​

  • Main:

    • Building and qualifying a deep investor network, both across the continent and globally

    • Securing funding for the portfolio.

    • Creating systems, tools, and practices that enable our portfolio ventures to successfully raise funding.

    • Make direct introductions and help founders strategically engage with potential investors.

    • Maintain a community of investors

    • Provide deal flow support to investors

    • Matchmaking between Investors and startups

    • Plan And manage logistics at VC unconference events across the continent

    • Develop reports through analysis of the data and research.

    • Lead and manage the Digital Collective Africa community

  • Africarise

    • Involvement in all aspects of due diligence on new investments (business analysis, industry thesis,

    • sourcing investments, competitive landscape, business/pricing model, and financial modeling / deal structuring)

    • Organise an Investment committee meeting

    • ​

  • AfricArena

    •  Support with sourcing speakers and participants at events

    • Support in securing partnerships and sponsorships for the AfricArena tour

    • Support in Logistics

Your Profile

  • Residing in Cape Town, South Africa or willing to relocate

  • Bachelors in Entrepreneurship/Business Management/Similar

  • 3 – 5 experience in venture and investment relations

  • Previous working experience in a similar role

  • Autonomous, organized and ability to manage several parallel projects.

  • Passionate about story-telling, community building, networking

  • Fast learner and builds working relationships quickly

  • Highly passionate about emerging technology, emerging markets, and the startup ecosystem.

  • All-rounder in marketing with good understanding of various marketing platforms and tools
