AfricArena is an African tech accelerator that runs Corporate Open Innovation challenges throughout the African continent.


Going into its fifth year, AfricArena has the privilege of operating in three key spheres that underpin Africa’s economic landscape. These being: tech startups, corporations, and investors (i.e. angel investors, VCs, CVCs and other institutional investors). 


Through open innovation challenges, in partnership with corporations, we aim to bring together these 3 spheres, to foster co-investment and collaboration that can move the economies and people of the continent forward


What you'll do




  • Creating and executing on content strategy: daily social media, weekly newsletters, weekly blogs, weekly podcasts, and regular press releases. 

  • Creating content for all Africarena’s digital platforms: website, startup portal, AfricArena Wired mobile app (articles, podcasts, weekly Wired newsletters)

  • Using the designated Brand Guidelines - designing all materials used for communication, and overall brand auditing and ensuring consistency across all communication channels.

  • Reporting on web traffic metrics and user engagement for all social media

  • Liaising with media on distributing content such as press releases 

  • Responsible for maintaining AfricArena’s database of startups, investors, corporates  and other relevant stakeholders in the ecosystem.

  • Identifying strategic B2B partnerships (corporates, investors, institutions, startups, media, etc.)

  • Playing a key role in the planning and execution of our events (in person and digital) across Africa and Europe. Includes: Managing the ticket sales process; constant communication with guests, logistics.

  • Playing a key role in authoring qualitative research reports on tech innovation and investment trends in the African ecosystem

  • Experience in qualitative research.

  • Experience with web traffic metrics, Google Analytics, AdWords, PageRank and SEO.   

  • Proven experience in writing copy for digital and non digital 

  • Demonstrated experience in growing audiences and engagement rate through social media marketing and community management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube). 

  • Proficient in digital design (Canva and other open source platforms are considered).

  • Proven experience in building relationships quickly with various stakeholders

  • Part of the AfricArise Ventures portfolio of company, AfricArena is a fast growing startup with a very strong social impact across the continent

  • The role offers substantial exposure and international experience

  • AfricArena’s operations are located in a dynamic tech environment in Century City, Cape Town

  • Career development would include C level role or further roles within the various companies of the group

Your Profile

  • Residing in Cape Town, South Africa  

  • Graduated with a Bachelor degree

  • Previous working experience in a similar role

  • Autonomous, organized and ability to manage several parallel projects.

  • Passionate about story-telling, community building, networking

  • Fast learner and builds working relationships quickly

  • Highly passionate about emerging technology, emerging markets, and the startup ecosystem.

  • All-rounder in marketing with good understanding of various marketing platforms and tools
